As the founders of Saltire Infrastructure, Cailean MacLellan and Barry Crowley experienced first-hand the daily challenges of traditional excavation. Digging and exposing underground services is a core activity for Saltire, and after encountering countless risks and inefficiencies, they knew there had to be a better way.
They saw the need for a safer, more efficient excavation method and invested heavily in top-quality suction equipment to create MACROVAC. This new approach allows for precise, non-destructive excavation, reducing risks while improving project timelines and sustainability.

With 18 years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure across Australia and Europe, Cailean specializes in innovative solutions for mains replacement, construction, and commissioning. His expertise ensures MACROVAC delivers efficient, high-quality excavation services.
Barry Crowley | General Manager & Director
Barry brings over 25 years of civil industry experience, overseeing the planning, design, and construction of major infrastructure projects. Since co-founding Saltire in 2021, he has played a key role in expanding the business across Western Australia, applying the same strategic vision to MACROVAC.
